It can be done... but you take the risk of expanding the choked part of the barrel or, even worse building excessive pressure in the barrel. It is absolutely not recommended, but your question asks "can you?".
Yes. There is a table on the Poly-Choke site that may be of help: http://www.poly-choke.com/
The Cutts Compensator and Poly-Choke are two different brands. If you have a device that screws onto the muzzle of the gun, or is silver-soldered on, with screw-in choke tubes, you have a Cutts. If it is a single-piece installation that is adjusted with a wrench, it is a Poly-Choke.
If you have a Cutts, simply remove the choke tube from the compensator portion, and use it for slugs that way.
The answer is maybe. Several of the makers of ADJUSTABLE chokes recommend that you do NOT shoot slugs through them- the choke has "fingers" that are spread or tightened as the choke opens or closes- and you may break a finger. Others suggest opening the choke. Myself- I would not- not that it is always unsafe, but accuracy is likely to be marginal at best, or poor.
Open, you don't want any restriction when shooting slugs because they don't compress like shot will I use an improved cylinder choke.
Dont shoot slugs through a full choke. You can do it; but it's very dangerous. This brings pressures to dangerous levels. And it also causes metal fatigue.
I wouldn't. This could destroy the choke and expand the barrel.
In most cases, the makers do not recommend it. With some adjustable chokes, the "fingers" that make up the choke can be damaged by a slug.
no
Lacking a slug barrel, improved cylinder works best for slugs.
A rifled slug- yes.
No risk if it's a modern gun in good condition with a shell of the proper gauge. I wouldn't try in damascus barrels or guns with a "poly choke".
Yes
Yes: A Remington 870 shotgun with a modified choke will shoot any commercial shotgun slug.
Yes. Standard chokes should be OK. Extra full chokes, on modern turkey guns, no.
Yes, but, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
Slugs will shoot safely through any choke but Improved cylinder or full cylinder should work.
Poly ChokeYes, set choke to cylinder.Yes, you can use slugs in a poly choke gun i have a mossberg new haven model and i use slugs in it all the time just make shure that you open the choke up to mod. or im cyl or just the most open setting on the poly choke it shouldn't matter the your gun is a jc and mines a mossberg when i shoot slugs in it i use the inmrpved clyinder setting its the most open setting that my gun has just make shure you don't lossen the choke too much or you might shoot of the choke all together (my grandpa did that with his 12 ga. anywayPoly Chokes have a "slug" setting or use Cylinder or Improved Cylinder. They are safe with rifled slugs. Ask Poly Choke Inc. before trying sabots which are meant for rifled barrel anyway and aren't accurate out of a smoothbore. http://www.poly-choke.us/choke.htmSee Related LinksSee the Related Links for "Poly Choke Inc. description" to the bottom for the answer.
Never fire a shotgun without a choke tube installed. DANGER, DANGER, DANGER
Yes, but would be better if you put in an improved cylinder choke.
