The account of the resurrection of Lazarus can be found at John 11:1-44. Shortly after Jesus heard that his dear friend Lazarus was sick, he decided to stay where he was for two more days rather than rush in with his healing powers to save Lazarus. His comment at John 11:4 was revealing...he said: "...This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”(NIV)
Jesus knew that, when he arrived, Lazarus would be dead, but that he could resurrect him publicly, bringing glory to God, giving more proof that Jesus was indeed God's son and the Messiah, thus building the faith of those who observed.(John 11:41,42,45)

The Lazarus story is only mentioned in Luke 11 and the city where Jesus was at the time isn't cited except that it wasn't Judea.

Luke 11:6-7 "So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, and then he said to his disciples, 'Let us go back to Judea'".

However, previous chapter Luke 10:40 states "Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days" was it's likely Jesus was there when he heard word of Lazarus being sick.

Which friend of Jesus was known as the brother of Martha and Mary magdalene and was raised form the dead?

Lazarus. The story can be read here:John 11[ The Death and Resurrection of Lazarus ] Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, " Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick." ...

What is John chapter eleven verse forty five?

"Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in him." This comes after Jesus raised his friend Lazarus from death. Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha who all lived together in the village of Bethany. (Do not confuse this Mary with Jesus' mother Mary or with Mary Magdalene who were diffferent people). Jesus deliberately waited for the death of Lazarus rather than cure him when he was sick (verse 6 'Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days). This deliberate act was to ensure that people realised just who he was. He arrived at Bethany four days after Lazarus' death . In verse 25 Jesus stated: ' I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" he asked Martha. "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world." Despite their doubts, Jesus then performed one of his great miracles. He prayed: "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go." This miracle had a profound effect on the people around - including the Jewish authorities who saw him as a threat. Lazarus, though he had died, was now alive and well, and news spread of this like wildfire (well, wouldn't it do so today too?). Many people made a commitment to Jesus as a result of this miracle - hence verse 45.

Why did Jesus weep in John 11?

Lazarus was well liked by all the Jews in the area but was a close friend to Jesus and his followers. He felt the remorse which all felt. This was put in to show the compassion that Jesus had.Whether this story is true or not, it is a great story to teach each of us, regardless of what we think of religion, that we should have compassion and care for our fellow man.Answer:Jesus wept for the people's lack of faith and understanding of the God they professed... not for His sadness over Lazarus's death.He was about to raise Lazarus out of death to reveal to these faithless people God's power and majesty. What was there about that to cry about?Jesus wept for the "darkness" and "unbelief" in which the people lived."...'Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?' So they took away the stone."Then Jesus looked up and said, 'Father, I thank you that you have heard Me. I knew that you always heard Me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent Me." (John 11:40-42 NIV)"...the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom [both the carnal minded result of the lack of divine understanding]: but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the Power of God, and the Wisdom of God." (I Cor.1:22-24)Jesus wept for the people's lack of understanding and belief... not for the loss of His friend Lazarus.

Where was Jesus when Lazarus died?

His soul was in heaven.If you mean Lazarus, who was a poor man that Jesus used in his story:Luke 16:22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

How many days has Lazarus been dead before Jesus raised him up?

In John's Gospel, Mary emphasised that Lazarus had been dead for four days, yet Jesus was easily able to raise him from the dead. This was important, because Jews believed that the soul left the body after the third day. John was emphasising the divine power of Jesus.
