It's called either a hanukkiyah or a Hanukkah-menorah. They can be any color, from plain white to multicolored. Popular in the US lately are blue and white hand dipped candles. There are 44 candles in a set and they must burn down naturally, not be blown out. It is your taste in candles. Multicolored sets have red, orange, blue, yellow, and white in them.

Chanukah candles come in colors, but they also come in plain white, either kind are perfectly acceptable. What matters more than the candle's color is how long the candles burn. The candles should burn for at least 1/2 hour after nightfall.

Many people use oilive oil in their menorahs. There are special cups which hold the oil and wicks that can be inserted in most menorahs. Any type of oil is acceptable for use in the menorah, however the oil should not be made of a forbidden substance, such as lard. Just as if candles were used, an oil menorah should burn for at least a 1/2 hour after nightfall.
