Windows (2000/XP/Vista) comes with a GUI utility to manipulate the partitions on hard drives. This utility is called Disk Management. There are a couple of ways to launch this utility, but here is the simplest: Locate and right-click on your 'My Computer' icon, and left-click on 'Manage'. From the left pane, click on 'Disk Management'. This utility is relatively intuitive, so it should be easy for someone with at least a basic understanding of partitioning to use. It is likely you already are aware of the dangers of using such an application, but I would be remiss if I did not mention them. Please use caution when using this utility. It is possible that if you delete a partition unintentionally, you may not be able to recover the data contained within that partition. Before you use this, or any other partitioning software, it would be wise to make a complete backup of your data. Fortunately, since you must use this utility when Windows is booted, it should prevent you from deleting the primary partition on your boot drive, however it is not recommended to attempt it. If you are booting from an MS-DOS boot disk, you would need to use the FDISK.EXE program. It should be noted that the same warnings above also apply to this utility.
