You may have not enough coolant or the wrong kind of coolant. You may have used a winter thermostat rather than a summer thermostat. The radiator cap may not be the right one or isn't functioning properly. The pressure escape line off the radiator may be obstructed. Your radiator may have a number of fins clogged, or the coolant pump may not be operating properly. The fan belt powering the pump may be loose or slipping. There are multiple possibilities!
i have had the same problem once and it was due either the wires or spak plug fouling i changed both and solved the problem
possible leaking heater core
flush the system and change thermostat, this should fix problem. I flushed mine and i changed coolant and thermostat,it is now fine.
Change the thermostat. lol. Simple but the water pump wont work if the thermostat is stuck closed. Good luck. Kyle
water pump
Check the thermostat first. I had an intermittent overheating problem on my 02 for almost a year, changed the thermostat and it never happened again. If that doesn't work, secondly I would check the water pump.
I have the same problem, I changed the thermostat but the problem still persisted. I have tried to bleed air from the system even removed the theromstat and still have the same problem.
Yes. I got a Taurus 93 and has the same. Very poor heating air inside the car in the morning. Also the temp gauge was always at the very firs line at the bottom. Solution: my mechanic changed the Thermostat. And the problem was gone ... by the coolant :-) Explanation: a bad or failed Thermostat is always in "open". So the water circulate freely and getting colder every moment when pass troght the radiator. A good thermostat only let pass a little part of the water when the engine is cold - in other words it works almost "close".
check the heater core stopped up radiator
YOUR TALKING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT SYSTEMS, ENGINE COOLING FAN AND AN INTERNAL HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING FAN? WHICH IS IT?
I changed the thermostat and the light is still on.Now the code is saying throttle relay.I was told it may be engine temp sensor, but it seems to be a different code.
Problem fixed. I changed the rad cap.
