Who make the powerstroke for Ford?

International Truck and Engine Company makes the PowerStroke Diesel engine for Ford. They also made the 6.9L IDI engine and 7.3L IDI engine. They made the 6.9L IDI, 7.3L IDI, 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel, 6.0L Powerstroke Diesel, and 6.4L Powerstroke Diesel. Ford strayed away from International for 2011 because of many problems with the 6.0L and 6.4L. For 2011, Ford is making its own diesel engine, the 6.7L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel V8.

What is the problem with a 2002 Ford mustang making a banging noise from the engine?

What is so good about diesel engines?

The diesel engine works by compressing the fuel and air mixture inside a piston cylinder. Compressing the mixtures raises its temperature. When the temperature reaches the fuels ignition point, it ignites, explodes and pushes the cylinder back.A gasoline engine works similarly but needs a high voltage spark from an ignition system to ignite the fuel. What is good about the diesel engine:The diesel engine does not need a complex electrical system to keep the engine running.Diesel powered vehicles do use a battery to start the engine turning, once the engine starts it is no longer needed.A diesel engine does not need spark plugs and distributor system to keep running although it does use glow plugs to help it start when the engine is too cold.Diesel engine fuel is cheaper to use than gasoline (petrol). Some people even use home heating oil to power a diesel engine (after passing it through a filter to remove sediment).A diesel engine has a higher compression ratio in the cylinder making it more efficient than a gasoline powered engine.

1999 jeep Cherokee and its making a knocking sound deep in the engine and cant figure out what the problem is. what is it and how can you fix it?

If it is deep in the engine, the engine may need repaired/replaced.

When did dodge stop making the 5.9L?

2006 was the last year of the best Diesel ever made 5.9 cummins engine 2003 was the last 5.9L V8

Why petrol engine is not used for large vehicles?

gasoline/petrol engines are considered to be much less reliable than a diesel engine. large rigs we see on the road today often have over a million miles on them. diesel is efficient and clean, and produces more potential energy. diesel engines also produce much more torque making it easier to tow or move things.

How do you start train engine?

If it's diesel, you push the starter button, if it's electric, you switch it on, if it's steam, you light the fire, making sure that there is water on the boiler.

Who invented the first cummins engine?

Clessie Lyle Cummins was an entrepreneur who made huge improvements on already existing diesel engines. In 1919 he invented the first "Cummins" diesel engine and received 33 United States Patent Awards for his invention. He had drastically improved previous diesel engines to make them faster, more powerful, durable, and reliable. Some well maintained cummins engines have reached over 1 million miles without any rebuilds making them the best diesel engine available until current day. -by Eric Estrada

Why you shouid not let the diesel engine run out of fuel?

Diesel engines rely on very high pressures in the injection system. If you let them run dry you run the risk of getting air bubbles trapped in the lines. These bubbles can prevent the fuel from making it into the cylinder, at which the engine won't run. And getting the bubbles out can be real hard.

Will a 7.3 liter diesel engine fit in a 1975 Ford truck?

You can fit any engine in any vehicle . If you have the time and effort, it is called customizing. The 7.3 engine will need mounts built or removed from 88-94 ford truck. Exhaust may rub on firewall or steering shaft and have to be relocated. At least the 7.3 came from a Ford truck and going into one too. Will need a diesel rad, all the accessories from the diesel engine. Probably the biggest challenge will be making power brakes work. Will either convert to a hydroboost or install a vacuum pump.

How do you rest engine light in 2005 expedition?

You need a code reader, so you can find out what is making this engine light come on. This way you will fix problem. You can also clear codes, turn engine lights off with it. It a great investment.

What does a Glow Plug Do crde engine?

A "glow plug" preheats the cylinder. Diesel engines do not have spark plugs (Diesel's goal was to make an internal combustion engine that could run on anything; he specifically had in mind a kind of slurry made from coal), instead using the heat of compression to ignite the fuel. This usually works fine when the engine is actually running, but it can be difficult to cold start a Diesel engine since the cylinder and block absorb some/most of the compression heat (it's not a problem once the engine's been running, because by then they're already hot). The glow plug exists to preheat the ignition chamber and/or the fuel, making it easier to start the engine from a cold state.

Why should i replace a head gasket?

overheating will proably warp parts of your engine making the problem much worse than it would have been

Why spark plug used in petrol engine?

A spark plug is needed to ignite the Air fuel mixture in the cylinder causing combustion and making the engine run.. Diesel engines use compression to ignite the fuel when it is squirted into the high temperature compressed air in the cylinder.

Reasons to Use a Diesel Truck?

A diesel truck can be the perfect too for someone who needs a powerful engine that does not guzzle gasoline. Diesel engines are some of the strongest in the industry. They provide an efficient, powerful engine at a fraction of the fuel consumption of traditional gasoline engines. Carrying Heavy Loads Diesel trucks are particularly good at hauling heavy loads. The firing mechanism within a diesel engine is designed to use every bit of the energy that is produced, which makes diesel engines incredibly efficient. They require less diesel fuel to create the same amount of energy that a traditional gasoline engine needs for the same amount of power. Many construction trucks and tractors are designed with diesel fuel engines for just that reason. Diesel engines are also used extensively for larger capacity machinery, as well, like cargo ships and diesel trains. More Fuel Efficient When the combustion chamber compresses the oxygen and diesel fuel, it burns all of the fuel. This means that every ounce of energy is squeezed from every last drop of diesel. Diesel engines need to be refueled far less often than gasoline engines. Since most gasoline trucks are known for their ability to burn through gallons of gasoline incredibly quickly, it makes financial sense to switch over to a diesel engine. The money that you spend for the diesel truck will be made up in a matter of months by the reduction in fuel costs. Diesel fuel prices also tend to stay more stable than gasoline prices, which can pay off in the long run. Cleaner Diesel Engines Diesel has had a bad reputation since its early days. The engines may be more fuel efficient, but they have always produced billows of blue smoke. Most consumers think of this dirty exhaust when they think of a diesel truck. Modern science has begun to eliminate the smoke from the diesel burning process, however, which is making diesel a much more attractive choice for consumers who need a less expensive fuel option. Diesel engines still spew some smoke, but not nearly as much as they used to before scientists began to tackle the dirty problem and find workable solutions.

How to make diesel from used oil?

People running used oil in diesel engines aren't making it into diesel fuel... they're running it straight. It requires the oil to be thoroughly strained, heated, and, above all, it can only be run in a pre-DPF engine, as running anything other than #2 Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel will clog a diesel particulate filter in no time flat, to the point where it won't be able to be cleaned out by regeneration, and thus, you'll end up having to replace the DPF filter.

What could be the problem in a 1998 lumina that has a growling noise when ever accelerating and sometimes when the AC is turned on high?

Several things could be making the Lumina growl. Check the belts and pulleys on the front of the engine. Check the engine mounts as well. Either of these areas can cause the problem of the growling noise.
