What could be wrong with a 2001 Olds Alero turns over but does not start but can spray starting fluid into air duct will run?

i just had that problem myself. if you remove the cap on the bleeder valve on the fuel line right next to the air duct fuel should squirt out and then drizzle with the pressure. to check this turn key on for five seconds to let the fuel pump prime. turn off for five seconds again turn key to on for five secs. after that press the nipple on the bleeder valve and it should squirt out, if not your fuel pump isn't giving you enough pressure and has to be replaced
