What could be wrong with the external temperature display in the rearview mirror of a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer if it just says 'OC'?

I have the same problem with my '02 Trailblazer. I think it means open circuit, I asked the dealer when I was there for an unrelated matter and he suggested replacing the enitre mirror for over $400. Needless to day I did not. For a while mine would read OC and then read the temp. I'm guessing loose wire somewhere, but don't know where any of the wires are. Replace the remote sensor unit. This is creating the Open Circuit. Common problem and easy fix.
