If the engine fan is working then you could have a defective thermostat or a blown head gasket.

Assuming you have the 4.3L engine, it is located under the upper intake manifold and is attached to the bank of injecter poppets aka the "spider".

A worn belt will cause a squealing noise. The squealing noise is caused when the belt slips. Tightening the belt will temporarily fix the problem.
Probably a bad gas cap.
