Prior to World War 1 various Monarchs dominated Eastern Europe. The aristocracy ruled over the general populous. The Serbians retaliated against the Monarchs and the aristocracy who would not give them their freedom. The Serbs killed a Duke and that started the war. After World War 1 the Monarchs had to give up their rule.

During World War II Dictators ruled over Europe. After world war two most countries became democratic but sadly the USSR kept the countries they had conquered and made them communist against the will of the people.
