People who are gay or lesbian can go through a lot of stress in their lives because their way of love and life is different from what most of society accepts as the norm. They may struggle with coming out to their parents, their family, their significant other, their friends, or even themselves. People who are gay or lesbian also face a great deal of prejudice and stereotyping that they have to overcome (eg; all gay men like musicals, all gay women have moustaches). Because a great number of people in our society tend to believe that being gay is wrong, being gay adds stress onto one's life in the fact that they might think it's wrong for them to be experiencing those feelings at all. I am a lesbian, but have not told my parents yet, and I'm struggling with finding a way to break it to them because they follow a religion that condemns homosexuality in any form.
