The US Military inflicted a lot of damage on the Japanese. The Imperial Navy lost 5 mini-submarines, 29 airplanes, and all the pilots and crewmen that were in those.
The Japanese made a terrible mistake when they bombed Pearl Harbour. They brought America officially into the war. The price paid by the Japanese was terrible (with massive loss of life on both sides), culminating in the dropping of two atomic bombs by the Americans on Japanese. There is much debate, even today, on the use of the two bombs, but it did stop the war and prevented further loss of American and their Allies lives.

Why did Japanese sent hundreds of bombers to bomb Pearl Harbor while the US sent Sixteen U.S. Army Air Forces B-25B Mitchell medium bombers to bomb japan?

The Japanese attacked several US military bases on Oahu, Hawaii (including Pearl Harbor) with 352 aircraft. Of this number, 79 were Zero (A6M2) fighters, 103 were Kates (B5N2) level/torpedo bombers with bombs, 40 were Kates with one torpedo each, and 130 were Val (D3A1) dive-bombers. This attack was designed to inflict maximum damage to the US military (especially the US Navy). The US Doolittle Raid, was just that an aerial "raid", intended to be launched by a small force (USS Hornet escorted by USS Enterprise w/ cruisers & destroyers) from a great distance to avoid detection & avoid losses to the US ships. The raid was intended to disrupt Japanese planning, divert Japanese resources, test Japanese aerial defenses, send a clear message to the Japanese people, military, & Emperor Hirohito, and also bolster the morale of the Americans & Allies. It succeeded on all points, in the process inflicting some damage on Japanese military & industrial targets. The mission of each of the forces, determined the size of the forces required.

3 How did the US reshape the Japanese military?

They forbade it from being used to do pretty much anything except defend Japan. Doing so, the US renamed the Japanese military the Japanese Self Defense Force. not to mention downsizing it. Japan now uses a mix of US and indigenously produced vehicles and weapons.
