Instrument clusters and dash parts from a 1973 to 1979 should work just have to know if its an A/C or non A/C dash
Its not hard, i did it in my 76 d200. Take the face of the dash out by removing the screws, there should be three separet pieces of dash plates, then unbolt the two bolts that hold the raiod in. Unplug the wires and antenna and take it out. Go to an audio or electronics store and tell them what truck u have. They should give u a dash kit and wiring kit for the new stereo. Follow the instructions with your deck and dash kit and install the system and dash again.
Should be little holes in the face of your factory deck... you can go buy the special little tools to put into these holes and the deck will slide out.
If the truck is a 4 wheel drive it would be easier to remove the engine to replace the flywheel. If the truck is a 2 wheel drive removing the transmission and bell housing is the way to go.

In some 1982 Ford f100 trucks I know they have a 4.10 Gear ratio like my truck but with that gear ratio if you go over 55 mph you can say goodbye to your gas mileage so get a smaller gear ratio.
