In Genesis 2 we find that God made another day at the end of creation week. After 6 days of creating the heaven and earth, God created another day (the seventh day) and blessed it and set it apart from the other 6 days for holy use.

In Exodus 20 we find the ten commandments, which also contains a commandment telling us to "remember the sabbath day" (4th commandment). In this commandment, God tells us that the sabbath day is the seventh day of the week, which coincides with the seventh day of creation being set aside for holy use.

Exodus 20:8-11 ...'Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.'

So The Bible is very clear that the sabbath day is the seventh day of the week. Which is our Saturday.

Now many people today think that we do not know which day the seventh day mentioned in the Bible is, because of the calendar chnaging. But although the calendars have changed and the dates have changed at certain points in history, the weekly cycle has NEVER changed.

And if you contact the U.S.Naval Observatory they will tell you from the alignment of the stars that the seventh day today (our Saturday) is the same as the seventh day back in Bible times.

What is sabbath day?

When God first made the world, it took six days then rested on the seventh day. As part of the rules of Judaism, HaShem commanded that we honour the 7th day with a day of rest, this is called Shabbat. Shabbat starts sundown Friday and ends sundown Saturday. During Shabbat, Jews prayer and refrain from the 39 forms of work specified in the Torah.

Did yahusha say anything about the sabbath about working on this day?

Yes, Yeshua (Jesus) emphasized the importance of honoring the Sabbath day and refraining from unnecessary work. He taught that the Sabbath was made for man's benefit and should be a day of rest and worship rather than a burden.

Does it matter if churches celebrate the sabbath day on Sunday?

God is not the author of confusion. May I ask, where is it in the new covenant that anyone should observe any holy day? Sabbath observance was strictly for the Hebrew of the OLD TESTAMENT that was observed, kept, Mosaic law. Law-keeping, which no man can do was afforded only to the Hebrew through the Abrahamic covenant..NO Gentile could ever keep Mosaic law, and still cannot. Remember the sabbath, keep it Holy, is the 4th commandment of Mosaic law...... to the Hebrew in the Old covenant. The Hebrew/ Jewish Sabbath is Friday at Sundown, to Saturday at sundown. The way it was kept was to do absolutely nothing but rest... .

What is a Sabbath-day?

A Sabbath-day is a day kept holy as the Sabbath.

What is the origin of Shabbat?

Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, originated in the creation story of the Bible, where it is said that God rested on the seventh day after creating the world. This day of rest was later incorporated into Jewish law as a weekly observance to commemorate and honor this act of creation.

Why do seventh day adventists seem like an outcast from other religions?

: There should be no reason for that. They believe that Jesus is Jehovah, and they believe in many christians doctrines like Baptism, and Pentecotism. The difference is: we know that they are weak in faith according to Romans14:1 "they still believe that food can make them unclean" while Jesus said only things that are in heart make men unclean in(Mark7:18). Also, they believe in a physical sabbath on Saturday that was for Jews "Deuteronomy 5:15" while Jesus fixed a new day which is "TODAY" in Matthew 11:28 to come in his spiritual rest. The old testament was a shadow for the New testament in what if the sabbath Saturday(the shadow sabbath) in Old testament was a physical sabbath in a period of 24hours or a day, which reminded the Jews they were slaves in Egypt; likewise, the sabbath or Rest for the new testament or the real sabbath is spiritual, which reminds us that we were slaves by our sins, and now we have Rest in a permanently perod and not a 24hours. Also, we are waiting for another Ages "Eternity" in which the promise of sabbath will be forever like God Rest in the begining "Revelation14:12 and hebrew4:3,8", this sabbath has not come yet and it is not the sabbath that 7th-day adventist claim to observe. Thus, 7th-day adventist are doing great efforts to serve God, and we should appriciate them for their works they are doing around the world. But they are not to be an outcast from other religions.

What are facts about sabbath?

In Judaism the Sabbath Day was the day of rest. No work was to be performed on this day, which was Saturday. The Sabbath began at sundown and lasted until sunset of the following day. All work including the gathering of manna was to be done ahead of time so that there was enough food to eat during the Sabbath. On other days the Israelites were only allowed to collect one days worth of food. When some took more than allowed, the manna would spoil. But on the day that they were told to collect extra for the Sabbath, the food would last an extra day without spoiling. With the coming of Christ, the Apostles changed Sunday to the day of the Lord and it is also known as the 8th day ( as prophecied in the Old Testament). Many of the Jews became Christian and this day replaced the Sabbath that was honored on Saturday previously. Although Sunday was known as the Lord's Day and not the Sabbath day, Christians were still not supposed to work on this day but set it aside to worship God and do things that are spiritually edifying. With the fullfillment of all of the prophecies of the Old Testament, Christ came to die and resurrect in order to conquer death. So in effect the Sabbath was no longer the most important day as Resurrection day(the new Passover), which was on Sunday, became the greatest day of all. Some who consider themselves Christians today erroneously consider the Sabbath day as the most important day and still honor it as the Jews of the Old Testament did (namely 7th day Adventists, among others). These people are ignoring the teachings of the Apostles and the New Testament and thereby are ultimately disobeying the tradition handed down through Christ's Apostles. Many have lost the tradition as they follow only the Bible and are unaware of all of the teachings of Christ and the Apostles. Tradition is one of the most important aspects of the Jewish and Christian religions as for thousands of years most instruction and information has not been written down, but passed on by tradition.

Why does World Mission Society church of God keep the Sabbath?

The World Mission Society Church of God keeps the Sabbath because they believe it is a commandment from God in the Bible. They interpret the Sabbath as being Saturday, the seventh day of the week, and consider it important for spiritual growth and worship. They follow this practice to honor God and live according to their interpretation of biblical teachings.

If the sabbath was changed from seventh day to Sunday where in the Bible can you find this?

The Bible never tells us which day the Sabbath occurs. Certainly the Old Testament does say that the Sabbath should be honoured on the seventh day, but which is the seventh day? Assuming that God really did create the world in six days and rested on the seventh, how would they have known that Saturday was the seventh day, rather than Wednesday? the Bible does not tell us and merely assumes that the Hebrew people knew which day this was. Remember that the start of the week is only a convention. It seems likely that Christian Churches adopted Sunday as their Sabbath because the Bible gives that as the day of Jesus' resurrection, whether or not the Bible instructed them to make the change.
