The Romans did not owe the ancient Greeks any debts. They never got indebted with the Greeks.

The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks. They adopted some of their gods (Castor and Pollux, Apollo, Asclepius, and Cybele) and liked their gods to the Greek ones. The first teachers in Rome were Greek and Romans modelled their education on Greek education. The elites were educated in both Latin and Greek and were fluent in Greek. They adopted the Greek styles for making columns (Doric, Ionian, and Corinthian), Greek medicine and Greek sports. They also adopted and improved on the Greek cranes and ballistas (crossbow-like catapults). Later Roman sculpture was modelled on the Hellenistic sculpture of the Greeks.

Why did Zeus owe Thetis a favor?

When Zeus was imprisoned by other gods and goddesses (Hera, Poseidon, and Athena), Thetis was the one that ordered Briareus (a hundred-handed monster, son of Poseidon) to the top of Mt. Olympus so that he may have terrified the other gods, causing them to release the chains restraining Zeus.

Why is greek mythology so important today?

Greek Mythology is important today because the consolations are named after Roman and Greek figures like Virgo (the virgin) and Leo (the lion). Some constellations tell stories like the constellation of Perseus holding Medusa's head. That was the story of how he killed Medusa. Another reason is that some of our words come from the Greek words and some Greek gods are symbolized in items we use like Nike was one of the gods of athletics and today we have shoes brands named after Nike. Another example is perfume. Some perfume or women's lotion is named after Venus. Venus is the Roman name for Aphrodite the goddess of love and beauty. There are many more things that relate with the Greek Mythology. All you have to do is look closely and you'll find them. One cannot comment enough about the impact Greek culture had on the Western world. To this day our philosophies, governments, and scientific institutions are based largely on Greek thought. Knowing the spiritual and historical arena where these ideas sprung up is important if we're going to understand ourselves. Whether you know it or not the debt you owe the Greeks is enormous. This extends into the realms of religion as well. Numerous elements in the Christian tradition are built on the platforms of understanding begun in Greek mythology. Unfortunately, even more of it has been forgotten. The significance of the virgin birth, speculations on the afterlife, even our conception of God. The ideas and standards of civilization do not pop up spontaneously, they are built on those who came before. In the case of the Western world the foundation was Greece.

What made the Israelites unique in the ancient world?

The Jewish people of Judea were unique in their religion in the ancient world. Most of the great empires of ancient times worshipped many gods. The Jews were the only civilization that believed that there was but One God who created the heavens and earth. They worshipped One God who created the universe.Answer:Judaism differed from other ancient religions in the following ways:1) It was the only religion in which God spoke to the entire assembled nation (Exodus ch.19) of over two million people.2) It made a complete break from the surrounding idolatry. Their monotheism (belief in One God) set the Jews apart because other ancient nations did not share it. We've heard (for example) of the Greek mythology and Roman mythology. What not everyone is aware of is that idolatry tended to go hand in hand with cruel, licentious and excessive behavior, since the caprices which were narrated concerning the idols were adopted as an excuse to imitate those types of behavior.Compare that to God, who reveals His attributes in the Torah as wise, kind, holy, and pure. God is One, so the command to imitate His attributes (Deuteronomy 8:6) was (and is) a straightforward matter once one is even minimally familiar with the Torah.Accordingly, Judaism was:3) The only ancient religion in which a large percentage of its adherents were literate and scholars.4) It was the only religion in which the people were ruled by God, with no need for a king, for several centuries (see Judges 8:23 and 1 Samuel 8:4-7).5) The concept of morality was also the work of the Hebrews' religion, including the dignity and value of a person. It is the responsibility of the community to support the widow, the orphan, the poor, and the stranger passing through.6) Under the law of Judaism, everyone had recourse to the courts. A child, widow, wife, etc., could initiate legal action against any citizen to redress perpetrated harm. Compare this to those societies in which (at most) only mature, land-owning males had rights.7) Government is accountable to a higher authority. In other ancient societies, the monarch was all-powerful. Among the Israelites, however, the king was under the constant scrutiny of the Divinely-informed prophets, who didn't hesitate to castigate him publicly for any misstep in the sight of God. And, other than for the crime of rebellion, the king couldn't punish any citizen by his own decision. He was obligated by the Torah-procedures like everyone else (Talmud, Sanhedrin 19a).8) A robber repays double to his victim, or works it off. Unlike in many other ancient societies, in Judaism debtors are not imprisoned or harmed. They are made to sell property and/or work to repay what they owe. Compare this to the Roman practice by which anyone could accuse a man of owing them money and the debtor could be killed. It is important to note that every one of the above existed in Judaism thousands of years earlier than in other nations. Here's just one example: Aristotle, who was among the greatest of the Greeks, and Seneca, the famous Roman, both write that killing one's young babies is perfectly acceptable.

Why were the Israelites known for that made them unique among ancient peoples?

The religion of Israel was a monotheistic religion, meaning that they worshipped one God alone. The other religions of the time worshipped many gods such as sun gods, rain gods, planet-gods, etc.

What informs Medea's decision to revenge on Jason?

If you are asking why Medea would try to get revenge on Jason, it's because she helped Jason achieve his goals, against the wishes of her own father and at the expense of her people, only to be betrayed by him upon their return to Iolcus. He had promised to be with her forever, but he engaged himself to Creusa, daughter of Creon, the King of Corinth, so strengthen political ties. When she confronted him, he told her that he didn't owe her anything, but rather he owed Aphrodite for making Medea fall in love with him. That's when she killed Creusa, and her two sons by Jason, then fled to Athens.
