Although Gandhi was from a relativily wealthy family he decided he must help the poor. Gandhi also wanted India to be free from british rule. He and his followers held marches and processions, demanding fairness for all people, but, as in South Africa, at no time did gandhi allow the use of violence. Gandhi believed in ahimsa, non-violence
Gandhi also believed that as a Hindu he should try to detach himself from the material things of the world. He gave up his wealth and often choose to live among the poor instead. He dreamt of an India in which Hindus and other religious communities lived side by side without prejudice or discrimination. People would live a simple, spiritual life in villages rather than large towns or cities
He wanted, like many people living in India, for the Europeans to leave India. He wanted an independent India and equality among its people.
he fought for justice of all the black people because the English were racist were racist towards the colour of the skin...
hope that helped!
Gandhi stood up for many human rights. In South Africa he wanted the right for Indians to vote. In India, he wanted freedom from British rule and emancipation for the Untouchables.
He stood for the freedom of the Indians as well as himself and wanted them to have the same rights as the British.
