Oglethorpe founded Georgia
i'd sure like 2 help u there i think it was savannah James Oglethorpe was the first person to find Georgia.
It was chartered by the king. He took debtors to that colony to find jobs and pay off their debt to the king. Today that colony is known as Georgia.
Olgethorpe wanted to start a colony for the debtors in debtor prison. so king george II agreed because more land meant more power and Georgia would serve as a buffer between South Carolina and the french Florida. although the original idea for Georgia was to be a debtor colony it never became a debtor colony.
James Oglethorpe did not think that if people could not pay their way out of debt they should not go to prison so he went to King George and asked for a charter and made Georgia a debt free place.
Yeah, and he only got five months in jail for it. I keep searching for the year, but can't find it. Lol. :)
King George was persuaded to sponsor the founding of Georgia by James Oglethorpe who tried to find a solution for Britain's many ex-prisoners (mostly from debtor's prisons) unable to support themselves, by letting them build a new future for themselves as colonists in Georgia. Another major reason was that this colony could act as a buffer between the other US colonies and the Spanish territories further south.
"There are several colleges that are part of the NCAA but not all of them participate in NCAA basketball. The ones I did find was Berry college, Emory University, Covenant College, Lagrange COllege, Oglethorpe University, Piedmont college, Augusta State College, Valdosta State College, Georgia College & State University, Georgia State College, and Clark Altlanta University."
