Answer: Joseph (in the story of Genesis) obeyed GOD, and did whatever GOD said. (That answer down their is wrong by the way) Answer: First of all, that question just DOES NOT sound right, it needed some serious rephrasing. Second; Joseph was a sort of "golden boy," easily Joseph is the "golden boy" of the Old Testament, the Hebrew Bible. As the term implies, he was blessed with everything; good looks, a natural good build, that is he was naturally well muscled but not in a hulking way, more in a "pretty boy cover model" kind of way from both the Biblical account, and Arab tradition, additionally, he was unusually intelligent, even by the standards of the ancient world. Ancient man did not posses crystalized (solid knowledge) intellect like we do, but, one thing ancient man had in abundance was fluid intelligence, that is, the ability to learn quickly and solve problems, see the solutions to problems, in ways that may not be perceptible to us. In a time of human history when, across the world, everyone was like that, Joseph was considered "gifted." In addition to being intelligent, naturally well built, and good looking, he was also tender hearted, something else that he was known for. Despite all his blessings, not once, did the character Joseph in the Bible, patriarch, if you believe he existed, ever abuse or harm anyone. Even though Potiphar's wife put the moves on him, he endured 10 years in prison, rather than betray his master. One more thing, Potiphar and his wife were not Egyptian, they were semitic, not Hamitic, because during the time of Joseph, Egypt was ruled by the Hyksos, one of many tribes of now extinct Semitic peoples. I am not comfortable talking about the ancient semites; myself personally I am an Iraqi Jew, and because Daniel the prophet lived in Babylon, the odds are very good, I descend from none other than King David himself, as many Iraqi Jew do. King David did defend Israel, but he is also guilty of genocide. Once in the Levant, I think there were close to 100 different semitic tribes, now, all you see in the Levant are Arabs, and Assyrians. Do you want to know why? My ancestor David killed all of them; even his admirers, generally think David was more than just A LITTLE excessive with the defense of Israel. You don't understand, one thing is to kill soldiers who try to kill you, to kill armies who try to exterminate your people, hunting down a broken people, and then actively exterminating them, even though they are too weak to fight you anymore, that is just unbelievable cruelty. God himself was disgusted, so he cursed the bloodline of David; for his crime of genocide, all descendants of David are cursed to live lives full of strife and conflict, our bloodline will never know peace, or see the end of warfare, until the advent of the Messiah. I have an interest in the Shaolin arts because I believe Buddhism and Daoism hold the key to freeing myself from that curse. You can not look at Sephardic Jews, many who descend from King David, and you can not look at Iraqi Jews, who also descend from him, and not say we are not cursed; question my sanity, but I believe we are. For the crime of my ancestor, I am now paying for it. Unlike King David, Joseph never abused any of the blessings God gave him; he used his good looks, to please his wife and slave girls, his intelligence, to save the people of Egypt from starvation, and his good character to ensure that Egypt would not be governed by corrupt officials. According to the Biblical account Joseph was such a good man, the Hykso Pharaoh loved him as if though he were his own son. David began life as a good, naive, even "innocent" young man, but power corrupted him and he turned into a womanizer and mass murderer. The reason the Assyrians brutalized the ancient Israelites, is because they were scared of us, they were scared that we would brutalize them back, if we ever rose again. Remember the Hebrew Bible mentions frequent genocides; genocide is only justified, in cases were all the men choose to attack, and then when its all over, because the women from that tribe of men have no men, they have no choice but to turn to the conquerors for companionship. However King David engaged in genocide that was AGRESSIVE, the Bible even mentions, that the Levite priests actively condemned him for hunting down semitic peoples who were harmless to Israel. Imagine a situation where Lebanon attacks Israel, but then the Israeli army, once they are done killing all attacking Lebanese soldiers they proceed to exterminate the rest of Lebanon, and then they go exterminate Jordan. Is that fair? The Nabateans of Jordan, all the semitic people who "mysteriously vanished," the "extinct Arabs" talked about in Saudi Arabia, there is no "mystery" as to where they went; my ancestor King David, killed them all. Between that, and his adultery with Bathsheba, God was angered, so he cursed his bloodline. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quraysh#Arab_lineages A Saudi friend of mine talked about the three kinds of Arabs, at least this section of the wiki article is accurate. In modern day Saudi Arabia, the view is that the "perished Arabs" perished as a "punishment from Allah." However, Hebrew tradition holds, that the likes of the Ad, Thamud, etc, were all exterminated by King David. Consider all the different groups of semitic tribes the Bible mentions. Where did they all go? In the book of Genesis alone, I think there are like up to 100 different semitic peoples. By the end of the book of Kings, at the end of David's reign, dead silence, just nothing but silence. Where did they all go? The Bible only mentions that David "defeated many enemies" although "exterminated" would be a more appropriate term, and that "the lord God became displeased with him for refusing to listen to his prophets." There was more to the curse on David's house than just his adultery with Bathsheba; earlier in the David story, he had "stolen" another man's wife already, one of his first wives a woman who fell in love with him while he was on the run from Saul. It is strongly implied that prior to marrying her, and she divorcing her first husband, that the pair commited adultery before getting married. Muslims think of David as a "perfect man," but most Jews know better. After he stole that man's wife? Silence; no condemnation, no "God getting angry; you're cursed now," none of that. Why was it that while on the run from Saul, God is okay with David taking another man's wife, but when David commits adultery with Bathsheba, suddenly God becomes so livid with rage he curses his entire bloodline? I'll tell you why, and I think most Rabbis even, would agree with me on this; God became angry with David, because David abused his blessings, whereas Joseph did not. Joseph, is an example on how all Jews should behave, and so is Daniel. King David and his son Solomon on the other hand exist as examples on what NOT to do, how NOT to behave. Solomon's wisdom, he acquired from a lifetime of what the bible calls "sin," a lifetime of mistakes. That is why he says "in much wisdom, there is much sorrow." A person who lives an immoral life, and rises above that unethical existence, acquires wisdom, but the cost is always terrible. It goes without saying and I can not emphasize this enough, Joseph never abused his blessings, whereas King David did. You will not find a single instance in the book of Genesis, of Joseph ever doing anything bad, even when he "showed off" his "coat of many colors" he did so in what looked like a naive, trusting way, it is one of the sadder chapters of the Bible because Joseph was so trusting, so naive and yet so utterly CLUELESS as to what his brothers were planning. For all he suffered, the only "bad" thing he did, was express hatred towards his brothers, but even then he forgave them. Yes, Joseph was sold to a bunch of Ishmaelites by the way; the Arabs, beat Joseph with a stick and tied him to a camel!!!! I'm sorry but, the Arabs have no right to respect Joseph, especially the ones who descend from Ishmael, it was after all the ISHMAELITES who SOLD Joseph right!? Anyway; Joseph did not take revenge on his brothers, he took care of the children he fathered on his slave girls, because the man DID have concubines in addition to his likely Hykso wife. Joseph's wife, was not Egyptian, she was semitic like him. We know that the Pharaoh of Egypt in Joseph's time was a semite, because when Joseph's father Jacob arrived in Egypt, and Jacob was then an old man, the Bible mentions that the Pharaoh asked for a blessing. A Hamitic Egyptian, would have never have asked that, because the belief that "the old are old because they have the favor of the gods" was a distinctly Semitic one. From ancient times, it is believed among the Semites, that ALL old people are good, in some way, all old people at least, who live to be over 100. Among the Semites, from ancient times, it was believed that if you reached 100, it meant that "the gods" or "God," in the case of the Hebrews, favored you, and so favored by heaven, you had the power to bestow a blessing. A Hamitic Pharaoh WOULD HAVE NEVER asked for a blessing, however, a SEMITIC ONE, different story; we know, therefore, that the Pharaoh, Joseph served under, was a semite, a Hykso. The Hyksos, as was the practice of military conquest, established themselves as the ruling class, the ruling elite. Potiphar and his wife, later on Joseph's own wife, they were all semitic. The only women that Joseph was with who were Egyptian, were his concubines. There are few reccords of the Hyksos in Egyptian hyeroglyphics, because for centuries, the Hamitic people of Egypt considered semitic people to be "below animals." The moment the Hyksos were driven out, the Hebrews were enslaved, because the Hamitic Egyptian majority considered them to be "lower than animals," because the Hebrews were semites. I do not know if that custom is still alive among the Arabs, or among middle eastern Jews; the practice of asking a centegenarian for a blessing. I know that the Arabs respect old people, but I don't know if they still believe that old people 100 years and older have the "power to bestow a blessing, because, they lived long because God favors them." It is a very ancient Semitic superstition; if a man could live to be 100 years old or more, then, God must have given them "something." Since they are old and towards the end of their life, the old people don't mind of "sharing" some of that "something" in the form of a blessing. Frankly, although I'm spiritual myself, personally I think that is just a silly superstition; come on, old people with the power to bless just because they are over 100 years old? I think its better to try to purify your own soul, and create your own blessings.

How do you refute Calvinism?

Make sure you don't use the bible, it is filled with verse that explicitly tell of man's inability to come to God on His own, and of God's election of His people. Your best bet is to use sentences that start with "I feel" or "I think" rather than the bible says. It will be much easier to make your point if you leave the bible out.

What languages did Joseph Smith study?

Joseph Smith didn't study languages- he had a third grade education, which offers proof that he didn't write the Book of Mormon himself; he wouldn't have been able to. After the publication of the Book of Mormon and the organization of the Church, Joseph Smith studied Hebrew, Greek, and German in order to make his translation of the Bible.
