Montagnards are members of an Athapaskan Indian Tribe inhabiting the Canadian Rocky Mountains and the mountains of South Vietnam. They wanted nothing to do with communists nor the South Vietnamese Government; but were willing to defend their homes in the Highlands of South Vietnam, and thusly were reliable men when enlisted by US Special Forces, etc. for defense against hostile communist forces.
