The majority of poor Tudors rarely had time for fun entertainment, as they were busy working. However, when they did have time for it, they would put on their own plays and puppet shows in the villages.
They would have had many forms of entertainment, some of them rather cruel to our modern sensibilities. For example, bear baiting, bull baiting, dog fighting, cock fighting, hunting, jousting, theatre, dancing (Henry VIII and Elizabeth I loved dancing, and both danced well), music (again something Henry VIII and Elizabeth I excelled at). Henry VIII had a famous jester called Will Sommers, so he must have had a sense of humour at one time or another! Will Sommers was reputed to be one of the only people who could make Mary I laugh.
They had sports like we do; tennis and Wrestling.
They also played chess and danced a lot more than we did.
And music was a big part of life, they watched puppet shows and read books (if they could read)
They went to jousting competition's ;)
They also watched bear baiting. yuck..
