∙ 10y agoThe Roman soldiers were always kept busy and had little spare time. They were trained regularly. In their weapon training they used heavier weapon replicas to increase their efficiency with the real weapons. The often did march drills where they walked 20 miles in five hours, carrying their tents, supplies and tools in their rucksacks. They also did running and swimming. The soldiers had to built forts, walls, watchtowers, roads, bridges and canals. When there was no need for such works, they were made to build a fort and then dismantle it.
In their little spare time the soldiers went to the baths at the fort, played Board Games and dice or went hunting.
