The Treaty of Paris was signed by the French and the British in Paris in 1763. Under the terms of the treaty, France gave most of the lands in present day Canada to Britain. France also gave up claim to most of the lands between the Appalachian Mountains and the Mississippi river. Furthermore, as a result of the treaty, Britain received Florida from Spain.
