The war of Independence, was fought between 1810, til 1821, more than ten years it took for all sides to consider the idea of and Independent Mexico, women int that time fought along with their husbands, and sometimes against them, two examples, Leona Vicario, who was from a wealthy family in Mexico City, who lost her estate helping the Insurgents, and Josefa Ortíz de Dominguez, who helped plan the movement, and helped the military part of the war with money and arms, Leona Vicario is the only woman in History who was honored and and has the same category as father Hidalgo, her remains are in the monument of Independence and she received a State Funeral no other woman has had that honor, several other women fought for their country and were mad at Spain since Spain left the New Spain, with the Napoleonic Wars.
