Is sub directory called drive?

No, a drive cannot be a sub directory but it can be a root directory.

Why is Linux filesystem referred to as hierarchail?

Because it uses directories and subdirectories. That is a filesystem term to mean that not all your files are on a flat filesystem. Think about CP/M in the early 80s. It had no concept of a directory, instead it separated files by "user areas" on the disk. It was, plainly, a horrible way to make use of the hard disk. Enter directories, which allow for a much better way to organize and designate specific properties of files on a filesystem. Now, Linux also gets referred to as "unified" which means unlike, say, drive letters (C:, E:, F:, etc.) which are a poor way to organize multiple filesystems, Linux does what any *nix does and puts the contents of the filesystem right on the tree with everything else. The reason this is so useful is so that, through just a minimum of configuration you can organize all your files by filesystem as well. So what? Well, one very popular use for this is putting /home's subdirectories on a separate filesystem, often an entirely separate hard disk, so that you can reinstall Linux without having to back up any of your data, or even SHARE your home directory with Windows. This can also enable you to put your home directory on removable media, allowing you to basically take your life with you.

What command do you use to create Linux file systems?

The command is mkfs. Though usually most people will use: mkfs.<filesystem type> /dev/sdXY Where X is the drive and Y is the partition. For example: mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda3 means "Create an ext4 filesystem on the third partition of the first drive."

What is disk read?

Hard Drive:Possibly because your filesystem is broken or corrupt. TO FIX: MUST HAVE WINDOWS INSTALL DISK/RESTORE, THEN REINSTALL, MUST HAVE ACTIVATION KEY FOR REINSTALL! CD/DVD DRIVE: WORN OUT DISC, BROKEN CD/DVD PLAYER, CORRUPT/BROKEN OR NO FILESYSTEM, NO FILESYSTEM AS IN YOU NEED TO FORMAT THE DISC OR REPLACE YOUR CD/DVD DRIVE OR REPLUG IDE PLUG. FLOPPY DISK:NO FLOPPY IN DRIVE, BROKEN/DAMAGED DRIVE, CORRUPT OR UNFORMATTED DISK, UNPLUGGED IDE ON MOTHERBOARD. FIX: FORMAT FLOPPY, REPLACE FLOPPY DRIVE, PUT FLOPPY IN DRIVE. Disk read error is because your Harddisk's/CD/DVD drive/Floppy Drive is broken, corrupt, missing, unformatted or unplugged.
