The French eat(a total of) 15 tonnes a year. There is no way of knowing individually since not all French people necessarily eat a lot of croissants.
For a breakfast treat, on their own or with jam (but not with butter) ... can be dipped into your cafe au lait (milk coffee). Some people might eat it with these things but not all the time
