80 degrees or so, they are tropical and live in rice patties through out Asia. They should have a heater in tank and not be kept in tiny glass bowl at least a 5gallon tank would be best with at least 3 femal bettas

I believe that Siamese fighting fish prefer a dim light to being in bright light for example, or direct sunlight. Although they do prefer warm water, the lighting I think is preferred dark.

∙ 16y agoThey can technically live without them, so they don't necessarily need any. But it's a good idea: any plant is good, but one that has lots of thick leaves is best. They use them to hide when they feel nervous or tense. A real plant is better than plastic because it absorbs nitrogen and other wastes and oxygenates the water.
