A feral rabbit eats grass, dandelions', roots that they dig for, any vegetables or fruit that is on the ground (not including potatoes) any grains such as wheat or barley. This is why myxomatosis a cruel virus that was introduced by farmers who were having their crops destroyed.
"Feral" means an animal that is living in a wild state after having been domesticated.
In North America, feral rabbits means bunnies that were pets, but escaped or were abandoned by their owners. In the UK or Australia, feral rabbits means rabbits that were introduced into the environment and became a huge nation-wide pest; they had to be controlled by introducing a virus into the environment (Myxomatosis).
Feral rabbits eat whatever they can find. If they're lucky, they eat a natural diet of grasses, leaves, weeds, herbs, and twigs.
People sometimes release their pet rabbits thinking they're letting them free. In many cases, these rabbits don't last long or lead good lives, because they can't defend themselves from threats, and they can't find the food and shelter they need. And then, if feral rabbits do happen to thrive, then they inevitably turn into a pest animal to the local community.
If you can't or don't want to care for your pet bunnies anymore, you should give them to a good animal shelter or find them a caring and responsible home. Spaying/neutering rabbits also will prevent overpopulation.

∙ 9y agoRabbits are herbivores which means they feed on plant life. They will eat clover, grass, and leafy weeds. They also will eat their own feces that are called caecotrophs. This is a behavior that is similar in function to chewing cud as cows and sheep do.

∙ 12y agoA rabbit's diet should be made up of good quality pellets, fresh hay (alfalfa, timothy or oat), water and fresh vegetables. Anything beyond that is a "treat" and should be given in limited quantities.
