Most Aboriginals in the Northern Territory of Australia do not work. They receive government assistance, sufficient to live on. A western style work ethic is absent among Aboriginals of the Northern Territory, and most have not assimilated into Australian culture. There is very high Alcoholism among them, and crime among aboriginals, is also very high. Aborigines tell about how the spirits shaped and form everything, they play this unique instrument called the didgeridoo, and they are famous for there dot art, they are pretty awesome.
The above answer is a generalisation. For a start, aborigines are not by any means restricted to the Northern Territory. They are found everywhere in Australia.
Secondly, there are many, many aborigines who have a strong work ethic. They range from labourers to university-trained educators and even politicians. It was the Aborigines who stepped into help when white men walked off their farms in the lure for gold during the 1850s. The Aborigines offered their services cheaply to the wives left behind, becoming valuable stationhands, stockmen and so forth. Aborigines, like Europeans, have a range of skills and, also like Europeans, some choose to utilise their skills to the best of their ability whilst others live off government funds. Others have maintained a semi-traditional lifestyle in remote areas, trying o pass on ancient skills to children who do not want to learn, surrounded as they now are by white man's technology.
It is true that many aborigines have had trouble assimilating into white society. The whites brought that problem upon them, forcing them to leave their tribal lands, introducing diseases that wiped out thousands of them because they had no immunity and, worst of all, introducing them to alcohol - again, something for which their genetic makeup simply has no resistance.
