There are several positions in healthcare that may analyze blood samples. From least to most education (and pay, generally) - Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT's) need to earn an Associate's degree from an accredited program. Medical Technologists (AKA Clinical Laboratory Scientists) generally need to earn a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science. They may also have a degree in one of the natural sciences and post-baccalaureate training from an accredited program. They usually need certification (offered by different boards). Clinical Pathologists need an M.D. or D.O. and a specialty in that field as well as board certification.
