First and foremost is to be still, do deep breathing (from the belly) and try to quiet your mind. If any thought arises, just watch it progress without reacting. Meditation can be done in various ways. You don't have to twist your body like a pretzel. There are sitting Lotus or half-lotus. Sitting on a chair, walking, or lying down if you're invalid. or Meditation is the most important work toward enlightenment.

You can walk and meditate at the same time.
