Normally when there is oil deposits on the spark plugs you need to have some work done on the valves, preferably the valve seals, but should do a complete valve job to make sure everything is at specs.

What is a fouled spark plug?

Fouling spark plugs can happen when the tip temperature is insufficient to burn off carbon, fuel, oil or other deposits and causes spark to leach to metal shell...no spark across plug gap will cause a misfire. Wet-fouled spark plugs must be changed as they won't fire. Dry-fouled spark plugs can sometimes be successfully cleaned by bringing the engine up to the operating temp.

Why do Spark plugs burn out?

Spark plugs don't really burn out, they foul out. A spark plug is used to ignite the fuel/air mixture squirted into the cylinder by the fuel injector. The plug sends a spark and boom small explosion. However gasoline is not 100% clean, so it leaves carbon deposits on the plug. Over time these deposits foul the plug.

Why is your truck with 4.3 fowling out the plugs?

Spark Plug FoulingUsually there are two main causes of spark plug fouling:The engine is worn, and loose fitting parts allow engine lubricating oil to get into the combustion chambers [cylinders]. The oil then gets onto the spark plugs, and is "cooked" on.Another possibility is that the fuel mixture is way too "rich," causing incomplete combustion which deposits carbon and lacquer on the plug tip.
