firstly the basics, make sure the drivers are installed. see if the cd-rom is being reed from starting. if not.take a look inside see if it is plugged in. if you cant do that take it to an IT shop. next if you can open it, can you smell a burnt smell coming out of the cd-rom if so you need a new one. Hi, hidden folders can be displayed in MS windows in the folder options' settings.
Look in the Windows folder, it is in there.
It's the System folder. But if you are looking for windows/dos commands you'll find them in the Command folder
You can do a search for shdocvw.dll on the internet, download that file, and save it into the c:\windows\system folder, OR you can install Internet Explorer 5+, or you can reinstall the network components bundled with Windows.

Probably some files from your Windows folder are missing or your hard disk has crashed. Try repairing it by booting with your Windows XP CD and selecting Repair.
