If you truly don't, then sit him down and calmly explain that you said something in the heat of the moment that you don't believe you really feel. Explain that maybe one day you will, but as things stand, you'll need more time to know that.
True, to an extent this will hurt him. But as it's that or pretend for the rest of your life, that is the best option. Also - if you keep pretending, you'll never learn to love him for real. If you stop pretending, then may be one day you will grow to love him.
Time will tell, and that's what you are asking him for - time. If he loves you, he'll be sorrowful, but he'll grant it.
