If it is really too much, then I would suggest to drain it to the proper level. If too too much, you could have a problem with the seals, due to high pressure leaving the oil no place to move around. The oil will make contact with the crankshaft. This will create a froth of oil mixed with air. This is a poor lubricant and will cause severe engine wear.
