I know exactly what you mean because I just went through the same thing. What I did was just told the person exactly how I felt, if I didn't and I never said anything I would be furious, because I wouldn't know the outcome. It didn't turn out the way I had planned but the person understood exactly but didn't feel the same way, but still wanted nothing to change between us. So just say it, the only thing they could say is no and I know they won't be that mean about it. If you don't try you will never know the outcome. And who knows, maybe it will turn out for the best.
