You had better stop and let the engine cool down. Then find out why the oil is overheating.
When it comes on it means the oil temperature has exceeded what it should be. You need to have this looked into by a professional.
The a/t oil temp light means the trans fluid has overheated (If it's on)
This light warns that transmission oil temperature on an automatic transmission is too high. If the light is flashing it indicates that the transmission control system is not working properly.
That light notifies you that one of the gauges is out of its normal parameter. Check the temp (overheating), the voltage (not charging) and the oil pressure gauge (low or no oil pressure).
That light comes on when the outside temp sensor shows that the temp is near freezing.
My 2003 ford expedition stalled after the high temp low oil light came on. How can i restart my truck?
temp too high
Your oil light comes on when the OIL PRESSURE is too low ( your engine oil LEVEL may be O.K. )
The oil temperature light usually means that the temperature of the oil has reached a dangerous point. The oil temperature light will alert the operator to turn off the engine.
The check gauges light comes on when one of the guages is out side of the safe zone. It could be battery voltage, oil pressure, engine temp....
If a red oil light comes on in a car, it means the vehicle is low on oil. It could also mean that the oil pump is not working.
whoa...OIL pressure or High temp causes the RED engine light to illuminate... Don't keep driving it until you know you've got oil pressure, and it's not overheating...! :)
