- It depends on how young you are and 16 is generally a decent age to start dating. Your parents are wise and know there are some not so nice young men out there and they love you enough to protect you. If the young man you love is decent and not getting into trouble then ask your parents if you can invite him over for dinner so they can meet him and get to know him better.
