i have come across this 2 times.
hold the on/off and home button together for about 10 seconds. It should reboot and yes! If that doesn't work, Turn your iPod off, hold the home button and connect to computer with the computer running iTunes. Then restore!

∙ 11y agoits got nothing to do with the battery, take it to what ever network your on and then just explain. they will explain everything to you. its the software, needs updating. you can do it on your computer, by plugging it in and rebooting everything
