An eighteen year old that is still in high school does not have to be emancipated. According to the law, a person that is the age of eighteen is a legal adult.
In Arkansas, when a person turns 18, they are considered an adult and are legally emancipated. This means they have the rights and responsibilities of an adult, such as the ability to enter into contracts, make medical decisions, and live independently without parental permission.

That is up to the college providing instruction. There are many schools that provide opportunities to take college classes while still in high school. As long as the high school and college work together it can be a great experience! I did it when I was in high school and know several students around my area that do it now.
If your child is a junior or senior in high school, it isn't much of a problem. However, if they are in a lower grade, this must of attributed to an academic downfall earlier in the child's life.
