One polite way to answer that question is by saying something like "Oh, thanks. It would suck if everyone was boring/the same, right?", smile, and keep doing what you're doing. A slightly bitchier way to reply would be "Well thank you. I would hate to be boring like you. Man, that would suck!" or something like that. I find that people who call others weird are unoriginal, mainstream people who care too much about what others think. It can be hard to think up an answer on the spot, but try to keep this in the back of your head when someone calls you weird or strange!
