Did Hector die?

Achilles killed Hector. Hector killed Achilles best friend Patroclus so he went insane. He caught up to Hector even with Apollo's help and once he killed Hector, Achilles attached him by his achilles heel and dragged him around. This is ironic because later Paris shoots Achilles in the Achilles heel and he is vulnerable there by not being dumped into the river styx.

What made Achilles get back into the Trojan War?

Achilles and his Myrmidons were the best warriors in Greece at that time. After the falling out with Agamemnon (who took Achilles' concubine after his had to be returned to the Trojans), and Achilles' subsequent refusal to enter the battle, the Greeks didn't win a single engagement. The Greeks had been beaten back to their ships, which were in danger of being destroyed (which would leave the Greeks at the mercy of the Trojans), so Patroclus, his longtime friend and companion, convinced Achilles to let him wear Achilles' armor and lead the Myrmidons into battle. Achilles agreed, but ordered Patroclus to break off the attack once the ships were no longer in danger. But in the heat of battle, Patroclus ignored the command and he fought the Tojans back to the city gates where he was killed by Hector (who assumed he was fighting Achilles). He had killed 53 Trojans that day. Achilles, in anger, both at Hector and himself, Achilles challenged the Trojan prince to single combat, which Achilles won and then continued to lead the Myrmidons and the Achaeans to victory, ultimately dying at the hand of Paris. After the King and Achilles decided they couldn't settle their arguement, one of Achilles's closest friends stole his armor and rode into battle pretending to be Achilles. After he was killed in battle, Achilles felt he needed to avenge his fallen friend.

What happens to partroclus in the Greek mythology?

*Patroclus Youth: He killed his friend and he and his father fled to Phthia. There he met Achilles and they became friends. He was raised with Achilles by Chiron, in the wilderness. Trojan war: When the Trojans threatened their ships, he convinced Achilles to let him wear Achilles' armour and lead the Myrmidons into combat against the Trojans. He disobeyed Achilles' order to break off once the ships were saved and pursued the Trojans all the way back to the gates of Troy. He was killed by Hector, after being stunned by Apollo and wounded by Euphorbos.

Why was Achilles fighting Hector?

To put it in the simplest terms, they were simply two warriors in opposing armies who met up and did what came naturally to them as warriors: they fought. However, Achilles had a grudge against Hector, since the latter killed the former's cousin, Patroclus. The fight was short, and after Achilles defeated Hector by breaking his neck, proceeded to drag his corpse around the battlefield before letting the Trojans reclaim his body. Interestingly, Achilles was killed a short time later by Paris (Hector's brother), who shot him in the ankle with an arrow (thus giving the Achilles tendon its name).

Did Achilles have a boyfriend?

He had a friend called Patroclus. We may interpret the two heroes either as relatives or close friends, as "war buddies", as being in a teacher/student pederastic relationship, or in love with each other as a homosexual couple. Achilles nevertheless continued to have sexual relationships with women.

He killed Hector before being killed by an arrow, which was guided into his heel (his weak spot) by Apollo.

Who killed Achilles and how did he kill him and what was his reasons?

Achilles was killed by Paris during the Trojan War. Paris was Helen of Troy's kidnapper whom was the woman who caused the Trojan War. Paris was described as to being a cowardly individual whom had no intentions of fighting and was why he used his arrows. He shot Achilles in the heel, that's where Achilles heel' came from. Some say that Apollo, whom was on the Trojan's side, assisted in directing the arrow. Paris probably most likely killed Achilles because Achilles was the Achaean's (Greeks) best fighter and to avenge his brother, Hector's, death.

How does Achilles kill hector in the Iliad?

Achilles fought hector out side of the gates of Troy. Both talked about what would happen if either of them killed the other. Achilles drew first blood by throwing his spear at hector. Achilles misses hector and hector throws his spear at Achilles and he blocks the spear with his shield. This is what myth tells us Athena goddess of wisdom takes Achilles spear and throws it back to Achilles and hector does not see this. But hector had no reserved spear but thinks his one of his brothers is by his side. Athena posses as one of hectors brothers and tells hector that he will help hector fight Achilles. Hector is tricked by Athena and then has no choice. Hector charges for Achilles and Achilles does the same. Achilles has a longer weapon and so he thrashes his spear into hectors windpipe. Hector still has some few moments left and then ask Achilles to give his body back to his loved ones at troy so he may be properly buried. Achilles refuses and hectors last words is the Paris t who was the one who started the entire war will kill Achilles at the gates of troy where hector is being killed now. In all honest opinion I think that Achilles didn't have help from a goddess and that he had a javelin and a spear but hector only had a javelin and did not see Achilles spear. The he rest of the fight I think happened.

What are differences in Achilles' character in Troy and Iliad?

In Iliad, they make it seem like Achilles is a horrible person, who kills hector but in the movie, Brad Pitt, who is playing Achilles is a good person and kills Hector because Hector kills Achilles's cousin..Hi,Just adding to the said above. In the Iliad, Homers portrayed Achilles as a God, who was as if he was immortal. As well as a disturbed, human being.Where in The Movie Troy, Achilles was believed to show "Human like emotions", As well as being a godlike creature who is Immortal. These Differences are shown in the scene in both the poem and the movie, where Priam King of Troy, goes to Achilles at the Greek WAR camp as for Prince Hectors Dead Body back.In the Iliad- Achilles says, that Hectors Body is for the dogs and the bird, to feed on. Where he shows NO emotion. King Priam Offered a ransom, for hectors body which was hectors weight in gold and one on Priams own Daughters hand in marriage. In the Movie- Achilles shows great emotion toward Priam, and even cried over Hectors body while wrapping Hectors body for Priam to Take back to Troy for His funeral.I hope I have helped!Eryn.Oh, by the way Achilles Cousin name was Patroculus who died in both the movie and the book. However, He wasn't only Achilles's cousin, he was also Achilles's Lover!
