The BHP (brake horsepower) is calculated on an engine dyno with a load brake right off the crankshaft. This is often considered a misleading figure as rear wheel horsepower or the actual power that hits the ground can be significantly different in that the rating is reduced by that power going through the transmission and differencial.

Torque is a measure of applied force. The horsepower and torque will be the same at 5,252rpm on gasoline powered internal combustion engines.

What is the best ratio of torque and power?

there isn't a best ratio of torque and power. You must find the ratio for your application because it depends if you are going to use this as a 1/4 mile car(low torque, high bhp) or a hill climb car(high torque.low bhp). My opinion: more power of either type is better!

Generally speaking bigger engines have more power (BHP) than smaller ones. This doesn't mean the car will be faster than a car with a smaller engine however as many other factors come into play. Bigger engines are also more likely to consume more fuel.

Engine performance can be rated by horsepower or torque rating, depending on how powerful the engine is. Larger engines for car and boats are rated in horsepower. Smaller engines (>1horsepower) can be rated in torque rating.

What will happen if the car doesn't have any torque?

Cars don't have torque, engines do. If the engine has notorque, the car won't go. The statement " this engine has no torque" is usually just hyperbole, and means "it doesn't have as much as I would like". Torque translates into acceleration and speed. Low torque means low performance.

What does BHP of a car signify?

if you dont know what bhp is, its brake horse power, it is worked out by multiplying the torque by the numberb of cylinders (i think) ps. 1 horse has 0.7bhp, the bloke who worked this out assumed a horse has x2 strength as a pony which drew his carriage and this stuck, thhat is why there are many variations of horsepower/brakehorsepower now
