Katherine Called Birdy is about a medieval girl that does not want to marry a variety of men that her family picked for her to marry. She scares the men off but then her parents pick a middle aged man with a beard. She runs away rather than marry him. Most girls of that time would do what their parents said.
Katherine in "The Taming of the Shrew" is bold, outspoken, and assertive, which contrasts with the common expectation of women being passive and subservient during the Renaissance. She challenges traditional gender roles by refusing to conform to societal norms and expectations, making her character a unique and unconventional portrayal of women during that time period.
