you have another pulley and that the tensioner pulley and it is spring loaded and it keeps the belts and pulleys tighten .If its bad it will cause that sound
I think we figured it out. Believe it is the throw out bearings.
Don't just replace parts until the problem goes away! Remove the serpentine belt and check the individual pulley's and idler wheels. Often an idler pulley will make noise after it has been disturbed. This has nothing to do with the method of installation, it just means that the pulley was old and ready to give you problems anyway. With the belt off, check each individual component by turning it manually. Give each a spin to see if they make any noises that sound remotely like what you have been hearing. GM idler and tensioner pulley
Depending on the sound, it could be a slipping belt or a worn pulley bearing. A slipping belt is typically caused by a belt that needs adjustment or by a weak idler spring. A worn pulley bearing can be any of a number of things, the bearing on an alternator, an idler pulley bearing... who knows until you get into it. Also, sometimes a worn heater motor will make a terrible noise when it's cold, as can a radiator fan motor.
First thing, if your belt seems soft or sloppy when you push on it or if it bounces at an idle. When you start/drive you will get a slight knocking sound between 900-1200 RPM that's the internal spring on the tensioner. To fix this you have to go to a dealer and get the replacement supercharger tensioner. The main tensioner in the back near the firewall is easy to find at auto zone or o'reilly auto parts. The idler pulley is a lot easyer to check. Take your accessory belt off of the idler pulley and try to move it, if theres ANY slop it needs to be replaced.
Could be the heat shield on the catalytic converter May be a bad bearing in one of the belt driven accesories i.e. Water pump Alternator Belt tensioner Idler pulley etc.
I suspect a bad harmonic balancer. Sloppy and making noise at idle belts squealing while under load. If vehicle has an serpentine belt system could be the idler pulley.
If you have replaced the belt, tensioner and idler pulleys, then the problem could be the water pump bearing, alternator bearing, camshaft bearings, power steering pump or any of the items attached to the serpentine belt. You may try to isolate the sound by listening with a length of rubber hose and place it near the areas where the 'noise' you hear may be emanating from. Just be careful not to get the hose too close to the engine fan or belts as it can get caught and cause damage or injury.
spray soapy water on belt while engine is running if noise stops change your serpentine belt if it still chirps you have a bad idler pulley or tensioner to make sure remove belt and spin each pulley by hand try to find the one that doesnt turn freely or noise
The diagram that you may see for this belt might be totally different from what your Rodeo is. Mine has a smog pump on the upper pass. side. (it could be a second idler as well). Starting at the bottom of the crank: grooves inward to the crank pulley: Route straight up to the left side of the fan pulley / down to the left side of the A/C compressor / up to the right side of the pwr steering pump / straight across to the left side of the smog pump (or idler) / down to the underside of the alternator / up to the next (or one) idler pulley-over the top / then down to the underside of the crank where you started. It will sound like this starting at the crank: up-over-down-under-up-straight left-down-under-up-down-home Ridiculous, eh?
front or rear gears often make a whining sound if worn or low on fluid. If sound fades as SPEED fades then it is the gears if sound fades as the RPMs fade then it could be a number of different problems. front or rear gears often make a whining sound if worn or low on fluid. Mitsubishi has made many demos for surround sound equipment. You'll have to link to a YouTube video or other source of the song you are looking for in order for us to help you.
