What does a communist believe in?

To truly understand communism and its beliefs, you must understand its origin. Communism is a political system designed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, they based their political system on the ideals of George Hegel, a professor of Greek philosophy at the university of Berlin. Communism is founded in Hegel's philosophical dialectic called the "Phenomenology of Spirit". Readers must understand that philosophy is a way of explaining mans existence and purpose, devoid of any deity, especially the God of Israel. Hegels dialectic, in short, plots an oppressed against their oppressor, and strives for freedom of the oppressed. This is the main theme of communism, socialism, Liberation Theology, Darwinism and a host of other man made ideologies and beliefs.

As the name commune implies, men agree to live in commune with each other. Commune = a group of people living communally, sharing in work earnings, and property. In a commune there are no individual ownership rights. All business ownership is administered from the state level. The state (government and its officials) administers the business profits to those of the commune equally. In theory, all property and work are equally shared among those in the commune. No one person in the commune has more than any of the others within the commune.

Where on the surface this appears to be the end all be all to a peaceful coexistence, in practice it has never worked. In all cases it has resulted in a distinct separation of two classes, rich tyrannical state officials and their working impoverished. Since there is no ownership allowed (especially weapons and specifically guns) the working impoverished have no way to rise up against the wealthy state and its military might. As in Tiananman square 1989, the powerful state military is used to destroy any resistance from the working impoverished. State Military fear is the rule of the day.

Communism in the western community is thought of by most as an evil belief. Many look at communism and think how terrible it is and begin to feel sorry for the people under a communist government. However, when the Communist beliefs are studied closely, it becomes apparent that the beliefs are not the issue. The morals and ethics under a Communist government are not only sensible, but fair and are all aiming toward an equal and non-predjudiced society. The problem with Communism is the way it is executed. The most important catch to remember about Communism is that everyone must agree with the beliefs being put forward. Everyone under that particular government must participate voluntarily. This is the reason Communism has not had much success in progressing further than a few countries, because it is highly unlikely that everyone in the world will agree on the beliefs of Communism.

The main Communist beliefs are:

- All wealth is shared equally including money, properties, all asessts

- All wealth is owned by the state on behalf of the people

- The are elections, however, in the Communist countries so far only Communist parties have been allowed

- Communism is the best form of social organisation

- The greater good is more important than the rights of an individual

Communist's did not believe in religion. There are most sites that are found show all the weaknesses of Communism and yes, there are many, but the foundations of Communism were to improve the society we live in and achieve the dream of equality for all.

The Communist parties are not to be judged as harshly as they are, because their base foundation morals and beliefs are not cruel and inhuman, but work toward improvement and perfection. If Communism dominated the world, it would work, however in the world we live in today, the possibility of Communism is laughable, because it would be impossible to have 100% co-operation and agreement.

Communism is supposed to be based upon a concept of equality with no concept of social classes. According to the fundamental beliefs of Communism, a fry cook would make the exact same salary as a neurosurgeon.

They are very well spelled out in Marx' & Engles' book The Communist Manifesto. It is a small book and can be read quickly. Most libraries carry it. I suggest reading it if you want a basic understanding of their belief system. Unfortunately different communist groups interpret it differently, making things much more complicated.
