What does a narcisissist do when you expose all his lies?

A narc is a completely self-absorbed person. This is not done by nature, nor by habit, but in response to a need. It's like hunger. What does a starving person do when you put a turkey dinner down infront of him or her? Devours it, yes? Devours it without regard to the ideology of theft, poision, or any other starving person around him or her. The list can go on.

Like hunger, Narcs feel something that hurts. People who admire Narcs are flattered by by the narcisissist himself or herself. This breaks down to a basic unnatural need for approval by those around him or her. The Narc will create this by any means necessary- By lying, exaggerating, or debasing others to set him or herself above the view of others. Someone who is unable to deal with the idea of being the lesser would create these illusions; at all costs.

What does a narc do when you expose all his lies? I really don't know, I've not dealt with any, but I could make a guess.

->Based upon my understanding of the human condition, a person who cannot stand to be considered "the lesser", and lies to be seen as "the greater", will, (when confronted with the truth and exposed in the eyes and ears of all), kill himself or fall deep into Alcoholism/other escape methods. This is an extreme case, but it's a pain which narcs are fleeing form at all costs.

Let me ask you a question. Imaging you were granted an unatural 1,000,000,000 year life. You are starving. If you don't get food, you'll die in 1,000,000,000 years after 999,999,999.99 years of intense starvation pain. What would you do if there was no food? Live through the torture until death? Or suicide? The intelligent thing would be to learn to cope with the hunger pain because ultimatly it won't kill you, or to make a living and obtain food. But intelligent thought doesn't occur to people who have hunger pains screaming at them at all hours of the day. The only thing that occurs to you is to steal your neighbor's turkey dinner for yourself without any regard to what your neighbor will eat.

I hope these ramblings may help point you in the right direction. In many things such as lies, it's not the exposé of the lies that you should worry about, but the delivery. There are many jargon-freindly ways of accpomlishing your goals. A typical technique is mis-re-direction. "How is it that ABC is true when evidence of XYZ is present? Oh, you're such a fibber... giggle, giggle. What I think is cool is the way you did 123 over here. Lets focus on that." You "a-matter-of-fact" the truth using the proper "lie-exposing, open-ended question" in the middle of a "compliment-fest". If he insists that the thing happened, then it's best to agree with him, tell him he's great, and break of ties with this damaged man forever.

This is all guesswork. I'm guessing here; and I'm not a big fan of abandoning people, but the man has a broken ego which acts in a way which causes other people to get hurt. With such a complex condition, all I could do is make a guess and share my thoughts with the community.
