I hope this answer isn't too vague, but a pH of 5 generally indicates that whatever solution you're measuring is more or less neutral. That is, its between being extremely acidic (pH 0) or extremely basic (pH 14)

Acidic. 7 is neutral. Lower than 7 is acid, above 7 base.
