Now if you mean how does it catch a attacker:
If a large amount of packets are being sent through ports that are above normal, or above the standards sent, it would assume its a attacker and posibly close the port until future action is stated.
If you mean how a attacker finds a port:
The attacker merely sends multiple small packets to multiple ports and sees which comes with a received message, stating it is a open port prone to attack.
A port scanner such as AngryIP or ipscan will allow a hacker (or the owner of a system or network) to investigate a computer system (or multiple systems or a network) and determine what port numbers are open and/or being responded to and possibly what software and capabilities are available on the system at that port number.

By utilizing a port scanner, an attacker determined that ports 135 and 137 were listening on the target system. What does, if anything, this specific information tell the attacker?
Where is the scanner port for a 2002 Dakota?
That depends on the scanner. Typically they are plugged in to either the USB port or the parallel port, depending on how the scanner is designed.
In the Alchemist What story does the attacker tell Santiago
Identify the form of attack where a valid transmission is recorded to later be used to fraudulently authenticate to a server
Where is the diagnostic scanner port on a 1995 F-250 4x4

there is not a scanner port on 87 hondas, the ecu will flash the code from the led on top of the computer. dachonda
Reading diagnostic codes is easy. The driver plugs the reader/scanner into the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and the scanner/reader will give a code if there is a problem, and tell them the type of problem.
