inverted means opposite of normal...such as an inverted flag pole would have the flag inside the ground instead of flying on the top of the pole...also a reciprocal (flip upside down fraction) is an inversion of the original fraction...

Work out three quarters divided by one eighth?

To divide two fractions, invert the divisor and then multiply the two numerators and the two denominators. 3/4 divided by 1/8, after invertion would be written as 3/4 x 8/1. Multiply the numerators (3 x 8) for the new numerator (24), then multiply the two denominators (4 x 1) for the new denominator (4). The product will then be 24/4 which is equal to 6.

What is invertion?

An inverting amplifier is one where the output is an inverted function of the input. The Class A transistor amplifier, also known as common-emitter, is inverting. As you increase the voltage on the base, the output voltage on the collector decreases. The operational amplifier has an inverting and a non-inverting input. In typical bridge mode, the output is inverted with respect to the (inverting) input, and the non-inverting input is used to reject common-mode input signals by moving the virtual ground point as needed.
