Manuel transmission? You need a new clutch.
Make sure the accelerating cable in the engine compartment is not too tight.
Could be a restriction in the exhaust such as a catalytic converter that has had a meltdown. If the check engine light is or has illuminated, check the codes.
Just start it like normal and when the revs start to sound distorted start accelerating
To increase the speed of the engine, which is measured in 'revolutions per minute' - shortened to RPM or 'revs'.
An engine revs when you hold down the gas and the brakes at the same time. ~Ares
Well, that all depends on which type of transmission you have in your car. If you a manual transmission and your car revs abnormally high when youre accelerating or driving uphill it is most likely a worn out clutch that is slipping, or a broken or worn out engine mount. If you drive an automatic transmission it could be quite a few things. Have you noticed any sputtering or shaking while idiling? if so it could be your oxygen sensor. Any check engine lights on? Go to auto zone and get them checked for free, could be a simple, and free fix! as with the manual tranny could also be a broken engine mount. anything else idk, most shops diagnose probelms for free anyways
Because that's how an engine runs. it can only ever rev up if you give it gas. no gas, no revs. more gas, more revs
What revs should my audi 1.6 show at seventy miles an hour and how many revs should it show when ticking over
Rpms, revolutions per minute.
Every time you engage the clutch, the clutch disengages from the transmission/engine. Which in term engine revs up, until you disengage the clutch.

Pro: you are able to change gear when your engine revs are different from your transmission revs. Con: when torque is high or the difference in revs (see above) is too big, it will slip.
